Every Photo is Stolen
To take photos is to steal. It really is that simple. The inspiration, the mechanics, the purpose, all stolen. Stealing eye-catching photos is simple. Point. Shoot. Steal. However it is my belief that to stand apart from other thieves that you have to get away with the theft. If you know exactly what you’re looking at, it isn’t exciting. Of course looking at a great mess isn’t all that thrilling either. It has to be something you think you want to recognize, something tangible, but a part of you also wants it to be something else entirely. My loot displayed here only ever has that one objective. Be almost something. As you browse this gallery please feel free to read my snarky and self fulfilling captions. They’re some of the best captions available.

Looked Glass - This image is of a cluster of Jewels at a certain gallery. We often forget that gems and jewels are natural creations that take natural shape. To me, I enjoyed the overflowing and bubbling nature of this cluster, almost like it had been spilled for me to look through. the larger empty darkness is in representation of the potential growth of said spill.
Company - I often like stealing images that invoke loneliness but in a subtly warm way. The same way that you might enjoy the sun on your face as you close your eyes. That pinpoint moment of warm isolation. I imagine sitting here with a version of myself experiencing that moment.
Enter - As an amateur museum thief I often look at art like a window that's been painted over. You want to look through it but someones put tar all over it trying to show you /how/ to look through it. Pieces that feature negative space or open areas such as this one are vastly intriguing to me as they often ask you to look beyond and simply allow the piece to influence your perception.
Hanging - [REDACTED]
Reflected - In my minds eye as I was taking this, I pictured a tiger but it was only it's stripes. Perhaps trying to communicate through my camera, or perhaps me overthinking a mud puddle.
Ship - Most of us have felt the feeling that someone or something is in the room with us, even without us knowing where or what it was. This image, with the cold bulk of a war ship, made me feel that feeling but that I was the unknown in the room.
Woman - As a man, my experience as a woman is limited. However limited, I couldn't shake the feelings about the natural lighting on this subject. Hiding it's face and self in the shadows and only it's body and carved neckline in the light with those piercing eyes saying more than.
Flightless - As the self proclaimed group head and only member of the "Masonry Walking Aviary" committee, I felt a great calling to steal this image.
Deepen - Finding yourself in deep thought about... yourself... can often be harrowing or unsettling. With the outer layer peeled back, I imagine this gent has a deeper understanding of self than we.
Halibut - The use of nature as entertainment has always baffled me. People make the outdoors a "destination" rather than just accepting that it and they co-exist. The idea of transporting and placing nature into a sterile environment for the purpose of entertainment is engrossing to me.
Observation - Looking in to the past is much like a photo. Or is it the other way around? Frozen in time, our friend here stands as a tribute to both mold injected plastic and the idea that we like taking that feeling of history home.
